Swiss data collection
The Swiss Food Composition Database contains information on the composition of foods that are available in Switzerland. The database is operated by the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office FSVO.
The Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office FSVO provides the data in four languages (English, German, French, Italian) and free of charge to all interested parties. The data may also be used for commercial purposes (e.g. integration into food composition calculation software or nutrition diary app) and scientific purposes, subject to acknowledgment of the source.
The current version of the Swiss Food Composition Database (V6.4) contains information on around 1,130 foodstuffs. For almost all foods contained in the database, full details are presented on the macronutrients (fats, saturated fatty acids, carbohydrates, sugar, dietary fiber, protein) as well as for water, alcohol and energy content. In addition, the content of micronutrients (vitamins, minerals) and the composition of fats (saturated, mono-unsaturated, poly-unsaturated) are also listed for the majority of foods.
